I am thinking of buying this laptop Gateway 17.3" LCD Dual Core, 4GB RAM, 640GB HDD 2-Year Warranty Laptop - it's $699.00 I have never used a computer with AMD Athlon II always Intel Pentium processor. In your opinion which would be better. I am just using the laptop for everyday use email, websites etc. Thank you.

I guess my main question would be for everyday use is this okay rather than a Pentium. Also I read somewhere AMD tends to run hot or is noisy. Thanks

The specs of the computer are more than adequate for what you require, the quality and cost Im not sure on.
The Intel Vs AMD question is one that will most probably never have a conclusive answer as neither have been consistently better than the other over a long period of time, the same question is often asked of Nvidea Vs ATI GPUs, it is up to the individuals requirements at the end of the day.
Another laptop for you to consider http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834214202 slightly cheaper but it also has a smaller 500GB HDD.
Im not a fan of having a single large storage capacity HDD and would opt for a 2nd HDD to back my data up to, 2 options you could consider in the future http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822149185 or http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822136466
