That is great news and good work finding the Repair Installation part of the Acer Recovery disk.
Have you been able to do the SP updates yet?
Remember before going online make sure you have a real time AV running.

Yeah, MSE is installed. Service Pack 1 is installed now as well.

That is great to hear. :D
Hopefully now everything will go back to normal. Funny how one little problem with the OS can cause all this mess.
I have to give credit to Acer for the options on their recovery disks being there.
We will continue to watch for your update to make sure everything is working correctly.
