If you do not use the following programs uninstall them.
Earthlink
Digital Line Detect
Diner Dash
Trade Winds Wild Tangent
AOL
Espn motion
All Tel Internet Acclerator

Pls establish a restore point before commencing any of these uninstalls

You also have a number of different program for playing Dvd`s etc.
Windows Media Player will only play DVDs with codes added.
However VLC player is free and will play most things.
I suggest you review the situation with what you have and what you need.
Here is VLC
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

When you have done that, pls run a Disk Clean Up
checking all boxes.
That is Safe as windows only deletes temp files that are more than 7 days old.

On that list EARTHLINK is the one you should most certainly uninstall.

I have uninstalled all but a couple of the items you suggested. Should I be running in normal start up or selective startup in the System Config Utility?

Normal
Start
Run
Type "msconfig"
Click to check Normal Startup, that is the top circle.
Then Apply and OK.

Pls post result - ie if still OK and running a little smoother etc.

We have both enjoyed working with you and were pleased to help.

I have included a link to general advice on maintaining your system
You will already know a lot of this. but some of it may be new to you.
http://www.microsoft...mproveperf.mspx
On that link do NOT install Windows Defender. You have MSEssentials which is better.
1. Do not allow your browsing history to be come bloated, clean it up every week or so, depending on how much browsing you do.
2. Keep an eye on Add-ons, toolbars and extensions etc. , especially be careful when downloading programs, as many on the standard install include for instance BING search and ASK toolbar.
3. Keep well away from registry cleaners, boosters, and any program that says it can make your computer go faster.
4. I saw no evidence of it on your win-audit, bit always remember that P2P downloads are a prime way of testing your anti-virus and firewall - to the extreme. They are generally renowned for including malware, etc.
6. If you do a lot of browsing and visiting relatively unknown sites install this. It uses hardly any resources and will give you an immediate report on the reputation of the website. - in 99% of cases.

I think it is running smoother, but I checked it from turn on till I could use my home page and it was 10 minutes. Do you think that is long?

It takes my system less then 2 minutes to bootup completely.
10 minutes is a really long time in my book.

I totally agree, 10 minutes is beyond acceptable levels.

Pls send me the list of startup items.

Start, run
type msconfig.
Click startup tab.

Open the Msconfig Startup window again and then do the following. You may need more then one picture to get everything.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop

ctfmon.exe needs to be manually disabled and is only needed if you use multi language on your keyboard. If you do then skip the step.

To turn off just ctfmon.exe go to:

Control Panel then to Regional and Language Options

Click on the Languages Tab then click the Details button

Click on the Advanced tab

Check the box that says Turn off advanced text services option

Click A and then OK

No wonder it takes ages to load, you have the world and his dog there, running at startup
I suggest you run this
http://www.malwareby...startuplite.php

After doing so check that your MSessentials is still running., although I have never known this utility effect it.
