Hi. The PC I'm thinking of getting is:
http://www.overclock...rodid=FS-101-OE (With ATi 6950, Memory Upgrade and W7 Premium)

Monitor:

The i7 950 is overclocked to 4.0 from 3.2. I dont know an awful lot about this, only its done to improve its performance. Will this put my PC and CPU under strain and cause problems in the future?

Maybe. It certainly causes more heat in the case, and in every circuit and device involved and extra heat increases the aging of components which can lead to premature aging. Moving the hot air out quickly helps, but does not prevent it from being generated in the first place.

No. If you don't want them to overclock it, don't buy that one.

I'm in the US and so quid to dollar conversions I'm not good at. But it sounds high to me, considering it does not even come with an OS.

Consider building your own gaming machine/

Start a new topic. Say what type of games you want to play. Say where you live so parts that are suggested would be in your local.

Give a reasonable budget.
