No one has touched this computer except me, and I did not add more RAM. And remember, this happened out of the blue. A few weeks ago everything was working well within all the demands I put on it.

I will try to get the temps posted.

If I have time, I will try starting a thread in Malware asap.

Lets see if windows will tell us.

Push and hold the Windows key on keyboard. This is the one with the Microsft windows logo on it.
While holding Win key down click on the Pause\Break key

This should open the System properties window
On this window it will show

System info:

Microsoft Windows: type and version
Service Pack number

Registered Name
Register Number

Computer:
CPU type
Memory
I need all the above info in your next reply Except for Register name and number.
This is private and we don't need to know this information

512 megs of ram memory. I'm not sure what Crucial and PC PitStop is seeing but windows is verifying only 512 megs total.

I'm running OTL now.

In the meantime, what about that file that I re-named FLTMGR.sys ?
Should I do anything about it?

Should I try to update some of those USB drivers and whatever other drivers showed up in Overdrive?

Check your manufacturers site for the mobo and see if they show the updated driver. If so then yes update them.

I have been to the manufacturers site and downloaded all the driver updates that they had, should I do it over again?

I think I have found it.
Its a program or application issue that prevents MOST analysis that relies on the BIOS information from seeing the correct amount of ram
This was the result on a Gigabyte board
Memory Installed: 4224 MB
Memory Maximum: Unknown Memory Maximum: Unknown
Memory Slot 01: 128 MB Memory Slot 01: 128 MB
Memory Slot 02: 4096 MB Memory Slot 02: 4096 MB
Memory Slot 03: 0 MB Memory Slot 03: 0 MB
Memory Slot 04: 0 MB Memory Slot 04: 0 MB

From four different scans, showed the same.
Installed were 2 x 256mb
You will note - EXACTLY the same as yours.
Cause - infected -
Rest of the thread is no longer accessible. - 2004

I will check your Malware topic to see what they find and be ready when you are finished with them as I'm sure Macboatmaster will also. :D

Cannot wait - apparently it somehow corrupts the information sent to Crucial, and many other such analysis.
It would have been interesting to know what memtest thought it had.

You could write an article on this - could you not.Posted Image

The best of luck - if you post again any time pls put Posted ImagePosted Imagethese on, so that I remember its is YOU.
The challenging ones always beat the more straightforward ones, from an interest point of view.
Best regards
