Hi folks

i am having a problem with my system state backup on server 2008 r2 foundation.

The backup fails with errors as follows.
The backup operation that started at '‎2011‎-‎03‎-‎09T16:44:26.084000000Z' has failed because the Volume Shadow Copy Service operation to create a shadow copy of the volumes being backed up failed with following error code '2155348249'. Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.

Also in my application error i can see the following error.

Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80040154, Class not registered
. This is often caused by incorrect security settings in either the writer or requestor process.

Operation:

i done an sfc.exe /verifyonly and that came back all clear.

I can backup my C and D drives no probelm just cannot backup the system state.

I have an idea it might be something to do with the failed writers, possibly the WMI one but could be way wrong there.

Anyone any ideas on this or what should i check.

thanks
