When i go into the system restore thing in start menu, it says System restore is unable to protect you computer, restart and try again. So i tried to turn it off...and it says unable to enable/disable restart and try aagin....restarted and same thing.

One thing i forgot ( which probally can help ) Whenever i log in, my PC beeps 1 time...just 1 time. then it wont log on, ten i hit cntrl alt del and it comes to my desktop. everyonce in awhile it comes up with an error saying something in the resgitry has been changed and entewr your xp disc, and i do, and it just does nothing with the disc. Sry i forgot to say this, but i told ditto in an IM so i guess i just forgot about it.

Let's try, Start > Run

Type "command", ok

Type "SFC /SCANNOW", ok

Have XP CD handy. Report if it replaces any system files.

I was looking in the XP forums last night and I saw the repair thing. So I tried it. Well when it was copying all the files, it couldnt copy 2 of them for some reason...they were ( i think ) NTLDR and the second one ( I think ) was NTDETECT.
Well i kept retrying and they just wouldnt copy. So since they wouldnt copy, windows wouldnt start, so i had to reformat last night <_< . Sorry :D . But thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for your help!!!

For future reference, Those are files related to Norton Antivirus, you could have probably found them by inserting your Norton installation CD.

so i had to reformat last night

That's a bummer, but don't you like that fresh install feeling? <_< It's the best your system ever runs--from there it's all downhill.
