Please do the following in the exact steps. Failure to do so could make the boot.ini damaged and cause unstable or unusable results with your system.:

Save a Backup Copy of Boot.ini

1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl and then click OK.
2. Click on the Advanced tab, and then click Settings
3. In the Startup and Recovery area at the bottom click Settings.
4. Under System Startup click Edit. This opens the Boot.ini file in Notepad ready for editing.
5. In Notepad, click File on the Menu bar, and then click Save As.
6. First in here change the location in the top white drop down box to Desktop. Then in the file name change to Boot.old and save as Text Document(*.txt) and save it to your Desktop and then click Save

Please copy and paste all the lines from your Boot.ini file in your next reply.

Now once the above is confirmed then the highlighted line below can be deleted from your boot.ini file.

5. Once deleted then save the file and exit.
6. Reboot the system and let me know if the 2 choices are now gone.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

And once you have done as Rshaffer61 has given you, then we can guide you in getting rid of windows 2000.

As a FYI....since you had 2 choices for boot up, "you did not do a clean install".

Known problem with XP SP3 and has to do with the Remote Desktop Client.
You need to go HERE and scroll almost to the bottom of the page where you will find a download link named Update for Windows XP, x86-based versions.
Dopwnload and install that.
Then go to Control Panel then to Add\Remove Programs.
At the top of the window make sure the Show Updates box is checked.
Once the window has populated look for the KB2481109failed update if it is there. If it is then remove it. If it is not there then close Add\Remove and then you will need to go to Microsoft's Window Update page. Run the Express Update and see if the [b]KB2481109
will update now.
