Hi, have had this appear on my laptop, have run all suggested programmes as recommended and still there. Will post my HijackThis log now

Hi widdle and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Excal and I will be helping you.

I can see that you have some malware issues. This maybe a few step process in removing it. I encourage you to stick with it and follow my directions as closely as possible so as to avoid complicating the problem further.

Before you do anything else, please create a folder for HijackThis and put it in a permanent folder (like C:\HJT) instead of the Temp folder. This is required because HijackThis will create backups and we don't want them to be deleted

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

4. Open HiJack and do a scan.

5. Put a Check next to the following items:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {44240BB5-BD7D-4D49-A1AA-8AB0F3D3CB44} - C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\svcdb.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)

6. click the Fix Checked box

7. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

8. Please remove the following folders using Windows Explorer (if present):

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET

9. Run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

10. Reboot in normal mode and Please post an Active scan log and a fresh HiJackThis log to verify all is good. Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Excal Thanks for helping, for some reason I can't run the Actve Scan programme, I cant download it successfully, says I may have an issue with ActiveX controls and permitting them.

Hi widdle,


Its possible that you have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:
  • One
    Two
  • Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Then post a HijackThis log (not attach) together with the log of the L2Mfix

Hi widdle,

Sometimes antivirus or antispyware programs get in the way of trying to fix something. So before you do the following fix, please disable all such programs.
Make sure you reenable them after the fix :tazz:

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

1. Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

2. Ensure you are NOT connected to the internet.

3. Close all browsers, windows and unneeded programs.

4. Open HiJack and do a scan.

5. Put a Check next to the following items:

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com
O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {44240BB5-BD7D-4D49-A1AA-8AB0F3D3CB44} - C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\svcdb.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: svcdb - C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\svcdb.dll

6. click the Fix Checked box

7. Just 1 bad file to clean up.
  • Open HiJackThis
  • Click on the configure button on the bottom right
  • Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
  • Click on "Delete File on Reboot"
  • Navigate to this file - C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\svcdb.dll
  • Double click on that file.
  • HJT asks you if you want to reboot, now. Click "yes".


    11. Run this online virus scan: ActiveScan - Save the results from the scan!

    To activate ActiveX Controls:
    *note - ensure you write down the settings these were at so you can return them to normal after

  • In your browser go to Tools>Internet Options
  • Click the "security Tab"
  • Click on "Custom Level"
  • Scroll down until u get to "ActiveX controls and plug-ins"
  • Choose "Disable" for Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls
  • Choose Enable for "download signed ActiveX controls"
  • Choose Enable for "Run ActiveX Controls and plug-ins"
  • Choose Enable for "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting"
  • Click "OK"
  • Then click "Yes"

    Then you can close the box
12. Reboot in normal mode and Please post an Active scan log and a fresh HiJackThis log to verify all is good. Ensure you rehide your “hidden files and folders” back to the way they were.

Hi Widdle,


I assume you can still boot in to normal mode? (let me know if this is not the case)

Please do the following
  • Download this FixVundo.exe
  • Save the file to a convenient location, such as your Windows desktop
  • Close all the running programs.
  • If you are on a network or if you have a full-time connection to the Internet, disconnect the computer from the network and the Internet
  • Locate the FixVundo.exe file that you just downloaded
  • Double-click the FixVundo.exe file to start the removal tool
  • Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run
  • Important Note: Do not launch any new applications while the tool is running
  • Restart the computer.
  • Run the removal tool again to ensure that the system is clean.
Let me know how the computer is running after this. Also post a new Hijack log.

Hi Excal, thanks for your continued help. I ran the programme twice as advised, it didnt find the Trojan it was searching for.The NOD32 anti-virus programme still flashes up the original virus is still here. New HijackThis logfile below:

Its not showing on your HiJackThis Log anymore.


Do these online active scans and see if we can find something there.

Kaspersky


Post the scans from these logs. Also can you post exactly what your virus scan is saying you have.

Will run the scans now, the anti-virus message is as follows:

File: C:\WINDOWS\MICROSOFT.NET\svcdb.dll

Virus: Win32/Agent.CS trojan

Comment: AMON cannot clean this nfiltration. Event occurred at an attempt to access the file.

Click this link to be sure you can view hidden files.

Download and install CleanUp! Here
We will use this program later.

1) Please download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

2) Then please reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

3) Run the program CleanUp!

3) Please run Killbox.

4) Select "Delete on Reboot".

5) Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\MICROSOFT.NET\svcdb.dll

6) Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

7) Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Let the system reboot.


Let me know if that warning is still coming up.
Also please let me know how you computer is running.
