Similar to what many people seem to encounter here, I have a problem with a google redirect malware. When clicking on a google search result, a new window will pop up and it will either redirect to the correct page, or to a different page, often a strange search engine such as "flurrysearch.com." Here is an example for what the link for the first hit looks like if you do a search for "Waffle" on Google.com

http://6053.r.google...rce=hp&q=waffle

This happens with both Firefox 3.6 and IE 8. I do not know how the malware made it onto this computer. I have not tried any removal tools on this computer. A second computer of mine shows the same symptoms (to keep it manageable I'll first try to fix this one, but probably one important information: I am using VPN on my second computer and the problem does not occur if I am connected through VPN.)

Any help is highly appreciated!

Be glad to help you but I need the OTL log. You posted the Extras log. About all I can see from that is that you have some obsolete Java versions.

Clear the Java Cache by following the instructions on
http://www.java.com/...lugin_cache.xml

You do not have the latest Java.
First go into Control Panel, Add/Remove Software and remove any old versions (which may call themselves: Java Runtime, Runtime Environment, Runtime, JRE, Java Virtual Machine, Virtual Machine, Java VM, JVM, VM, J2RE, J2SE)

I see:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 7
Java™ 6 Update 7
Java™ 6 Update 17

Now delete the folder C:\Program Files\Java

Get the latest at:

http://javadl.sun.co...?BundleId=41723

Save it to your PC then close all browsers and install it.

With a redirect we always run TDSSKiller:

Download TDSSKiller:
http://support.kaspe.../tdsskiller.exe
Save it to your desktop then run it. Post the log it creates.

Also please explain how you connect to the internet. DSL/Cable modem with separate wireless modem? Encrypted wireless links? Does the router have a password other than the default? That two PCs have the same problem may indicate that your router has been compromised.

Is there an AMD processor in your PC? I ask because you are running SP2 and not SP3. (Don't rush out and upgrade yet.)

Ron

PS If it's easier you can write in German.
