over the weekend I formated the laptop again and started over, this time making sure to install the chipset first and I have sound ( i used the realtek version you sugested. but there is stil drivers missing for the 'modem device on high definition audio bus' and the 'network controller'.

the connexant modem driver fixed the 'modum on high deffinition audio bus' problem ant the other was the wireless driver that was missing
