Hi,
I went through your instructions before I posted this. I scanned it with multiple antivirus/spyware programs, as well as cleaned the files. I ran the HighjackThis progran and below is my log. Thanks for your help.

Hi drewbirdl, welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log. You have a classic Nail infection with 3 malicious 023 Runnin Services.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

We must disable SpySweeper because it would probably interfere with our fix:

To disable SpySweeper:

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction
----------------------------------------------

1. First to get rid of a very malicious 023 item (Running Service)

To stop a service and set to 'disabled'

Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK

Click the Extended tab.

Scroll down until you find the service.

Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I)

Click once on the service to highlight it.

Click Stop

Right-Click on the service.

Click on 'Properties'

Select the 'General' tab

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box

From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'

Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

Repeat the same procedure with the following services:

Service: COM+ Component Service (COMCSVC)

Service: COM+ System Service (COMSS)

2. Now we need to work from the Command Prompt

Go Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>Command Prompt

. A black box will appear with a flashing cursor. At the cursor, type cd.. then cd.. again and repeat the procedure until the writing preceeding the cursor says C:\>

. Now carefully type the following: sc delete NSS.

. Press ENTER.

Repeat the same procedure with these servicenames one at a time to delete them:

sc delete COMCSVC

sc delete COMSS

.Close the Command Prompt box

3. Make sure that your version of EWIDO has the most recent definition files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

4. Download Nailfix from here:

. Click on Spyware Utilities
. Chose Nail/Aurora Fix
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

5. Next, reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

A. Restart your computer
B. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
C. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
D. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

6. Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

7. Now run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

8. Run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

7. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following files/folders (and all their content), if they are present:

c:\windows\system32\sjrngcm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winmgnt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe

8. Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Congratulations, your new log shows that your SYSTEM IS CLEAN

There are a few things you must do once you are completely clean:

1. Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove bad files from the backup that Windows makes as no program is able to clean those files:

TO DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE
1. Right-click "My Computer", and then left click "Properties".
2. Left click on "System Restore Tab"
3. Check box beside "Turn Off System Restore"
4. Left click on "Apply"

TO ENABLE SYSTEM RESTORE
1.Remove check mark from "Turn Off System Restore"
2.Click on "Apply"

2. Cleanup the leftovers. Download CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.

3. Finally, Re-hide your System Files and Folders to prevent any future accidents.

Here are some tips to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future:

Make sure you keep your Windows OS current by visiting Windows update
regularly to download and install any critical updates and service packs. With out these you are leaving the backdoor open.

I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

To protect yourself further:

Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
