Programs and browsers not responding

Hi,

I have a new ASUS K501 notebook, with Windows 7. I've been having problems recently with programs and internet browsers not responding. Some examples: Windows Live Messenger not responding when I try to make a video or audio call, so I have to shut it down; Skype not responding when I try to call a contact; Skype taking 30+ minutes to sign in; internet browsers not responding when there's Flash involved (both IE and Firefox); Windows Media Player not responding when I try to play something, so I need to shut it down.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash player, and I have the latest versions of the internet browsers.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
