it would be as simple as setting up a regular video camera (or if you want to get all inception like, another web cam......it's a web cam, inside of a web cam, inside of a web cam) and record the chat from there.

general rule of thumb: if you're concerned about someone saving/recording something (speech, video, text, etc...) and either keeping it for later when it was intended to be temporary, or showing it to others when it was supposed to be private, then you probably shouldn't be doing it on the internet (or a phone, or any other recording device).

i think you missread my first response as an all inclusive list. that was an example of how easy it is to record things.

short answer is yes (to basically all of your questions), yes it's possible, yes there's software, yes sometimes you don't need software, yes it's easy
