This started occurring last night. Everything else seems to be functioning properly. I don't know what could have happened. No words pop up on the screen after selecting shut down. Simply nothing happens. I would really appreciate the help.

Start by going F8 on keyboard after first post screen and on advanced menu try last known good.
If that does not work go back to F8 and try safe mode with networking
If that does not work go back again to F8 and try just Safe Mode.

If you get in on one of these and it shuts down OK
Post which one it is please.

if I understand correctly you are unable to shut down...if so...
press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to bring up Task Manager...top row click on shutdown...from the drop down window select shut down...
nojoy...try pressing the power button for six seconds to force the shut down

I suggest that you clean your system of temporary files.

Download TFC to your desktop and run it from there.

TFC will close all your open files so make sure you have saved everything!

I think it looks, does it not, as though the OP is not intending to reply. Original post 3 April
