My computer has been making a lot of noise for the past 2 weeks. It seems like it's running a program all the time, as well as a squeeking sound. I took some advice & blew out the fan with canned air, but it didn't work. I was told the hard drive might be going bad. This all started at the same I noticed a pretty bad virus, so I don't no if it's related. FYI...the virus has been cleared with the help of Essexboy. Would appreciate any help on this. Thank you

Hi Matty1266,
The 1st thing I suggest you do is back up any important data on your HDD, the 2 easiest and most cost effective ways of doing this is 1: Burn it to a CD or DVD disk and 2: Copy it to a flash drive.
Post your computer specs so we can do some research on it, if you know the brand name of the HDD download the diagnostic tools from http://www.tacktech....ttid=287#maxtor run the test/s and let us know what it reports, unfortunately if the HDD is a Toshiba they do not offer such a tool.
