My connection problems have been fixed by a simple run of WinSockXPFix.
Bad news...
now when i do an alt-control-delete, the tabs on the task manager screen that pops up are GONE!
i'm sure this can fixed easily, but how?

Never mind...
Just double click the edge of the window to switch back.
Back to normal now.
(it was in "tiny footprint" mode?? who knew...)
