Click start then shutdown then select restart in MS DOS Mode then reboot

Type scanreg.exe /fix then press enter and let it run to Windows repaired the registry then press enter then press ctrl + alt + delete keys together to reboot

Click start then all programmes then accessories, system tools, system information, tools, system file checker and run this, you will need the 98SE CD if you need to replace anything

See how it runs

There is a new version of Adaware SE

Fix rebuilds from scratch which can be preferable to restoring

I can get most things to work by going start run and browse the prog I want to use but obviouslty this is a pain.

Get tune up trial

http://www.tune-up.com

Run disc clean up then registry clean up then click optimize to run reg defrag, which takes a while then needs reboot.

Try running fix again if you still have the problem

Start the PC then insert the 98SE CD and cancel when loaded. Click start then all programmes, accessories, system tools, system information, tools, system file checker. Scan for altered files and restore any it asks for.

Try scanreg.exe /fix then try downloading
