I'm looking for an online discussion forum that would work best for our group. We were on google groups but moved when they made changes in January. We are now on aimoo.com but are looking for other forum possibilities. Hoping for any feedback regarding what would be the best choice. While it would be nice to have a forum that is free, we would be willing to pay if we can get all the features we are looking for. We also have a website that gives info about our group (we teach and share info on different native american traditions for personal growth/learning).

-we are a group under 100 from all over the world though mostly in Canada
-most are english users, a few french (so we need to be able to have the interface and admin options in french as well)
-ability to have many discussions as in any forum
-a place to post images and upload files
-ability to receive all posts via email (as google groups does) or to have a smartphone application that is easy to read/user friendly (aimoo's version was not very easy to read)
-to have a user friendly interface
-to have a forum that is easy to make changes to for the administrators (we are not super tech savvy)
-ability to archive posts
-ability to have online chat for members as well as online video chat
-have the forum private so members have to log on and be accepted by administrators before viewing the site
-have an attractive, simple interface with ability to change style/colours/have photos on the welcome page etc.

We have already looked a bit at phpBB but it seems rather complex and we weren't sure it does what we need. Hoping someone can help. Thanks!
