Microphone not working

I have a ps3 (Singstar) microphone that is no longer working on my pc.
Before you lash, I would like to let you know that until April, the microphones have been working great.

It was not until I upgraded to SP1 (W7) alongside a bunch of other updates that the system is not picking any audio through these mics.

I have tried:
Using the mic -> usb hub
Using the mic ports
Reinstalling realtek drivers
uninstalling mic drivers
Uninstalling service pack 1
Changing quality from the properties box.

I'm not too bad when it comes to these things, but this isn't working!

Sometimes, I manage to pull out about 5 mins of talk time through the mic before it decides to stop working.

Is there any way to delete a bunch of Windows Updates together? What about system restoring to before the update ( I can't seem to find that date on system restore)

I wanna do this before shelling out another $100 - $200 for a Rode or Blue Mic

Any ideas?
