My computer just started giving me trouble last night. I have an Hp laptop running windows 7.
When i turned my computer on it went to some program that was checking why it wouldn't start it said it would fix any problems automatically.
After this finished the computer asked me to send an error report and another screen popped up asking me to do a system restore, recovery or some minimal recovery.
I clicked on restore and went through all the steps it and it said that the restore was successful, but when i reboot it starts the whole process over again.

Please help i have no idea what to do.

When you start the machine (turn on the computer) repeatedly press the F 8 key.
When you get to the advanced boot menu select "safe mode"
If you can not get to the advanced boot menu this may be a hardware issue.

Ok so i tried starting in safe mode, but it still has the same problem.
Eventually i found some diagnostics tool and ran a start up test.
The results said that the short DST failed.
The Failure ID was PLG6MH-5085KK-XD7XHA-60D03

Did you read the tutorial and follow the steps to recover your data?
The reason I am asking you to do this is if your hard drive has failed you will not be able to access it even with a Linux OS.
This will tell me if your drive has failed or if it is a software issue.
