http://www.msfn.org/...345#entry655345

i dont understand what they talk about in there... i have tried many forums and everyone give me this link...(((((((

this messages displays when i enable SATA contrller and try to install XP from USB Flash drive

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed\nhard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive\nto make sure it is properly configured and terminated.\nRun CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then\nrestart your computer.

when sata is disabled from bios, this is the message screen....

this is the message screen

windowsxp professional setup
To install windows xp on the partition you selected,
setup must write some startup files to the following disk:

95394 MB Disk 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MBR]
However, this disk does not contain a Windows XP-compatible partition.

to continueinstalling windows xp, return to the partition selection
screen and create a windows XP-compatible partition on the disk
above, and then create a new one.

to return to the partition screen, press enter.

when SATA is Enabled this is what screen shows

a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps:

check for viruses on your computer. remove any newly installed
hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive
to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
run chkdsk / to check for hard drive corruption. and then
restart your computer.

Use the method on this link
http://komku.blogspo...windows-xp.html
It has had a lot of success.

I advise you to format the hard drive first. What is on the drive at this time.?

On the evidence available at this time you have either
1. A problem with the drive - do you know it to be good.

2. A problem with the windows installation on the flash drive

3. Your format and partitioning is incorrect - what are you using.

If you know the make of hard drive and are in any doubt about its state I suggest you run a disk check using the manaufacturers utility

What is the reason for the install - did the original instalation fail
As presumably it is a netbook without an optical drive - did it have a recovery partition from which the original condition could have been restored to.

Finally is it a genuine xp CD from which you have prepared the USB flash drive installation.

The error on the SATA enabled is what I would expect.
