Thanks.

There were 4 Dr. Web programs. The one on the top right was Dr. Web Link Checker, but it didn't download as an 8-igit file, so I don't know if that is the program you mean. Tell me the exact name of the Dr. Web program, please.

I ran Dr. Web link checker in Safe Mode and it just said that my info was added to the registry. There was no option to perform a scan.

What do I do now?

Thanks.

Yep we try the removal download the programme below to your desktop

http://www.duplexsec...st-v178-x86.exe

Run the programme and select uninstall

Follow up with an OTL log and if it has not gone I will remove it manually

Please run the following script in the customs scan box

  • Run OTL
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    drivers32
    safebootminimal
    safebootnetwork
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    SPTD.*
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /rs
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

Hi.

I downloaded the first program, but when I try to run it, it says "...it is not a valid Win32 application."

I was just about to log off when I was alerted about your message. I have to log off now, but will check back later. Hopefully, we can fix this and thanks for your help.

Well, okay, I won't be back on until after that. Hopefully, we can fix this.

Also, you never answered me about DrWeb.

Thanks.

Okay, I finally got Dr. Web's Cure It. There were 4 programs at the top and you had told me it was in the upper right, but actually it was the upper left. :) I had to fill out a 2-page form in order to get it.

I will now follow your instructions from the other day, concerning Dr. Web. Thanks.

Okay, I have attached the Dr. Web log. It found 4 problems. I didn't do the duplesec scan, because it didn't allow me to. The point is that I have only done the Dr. Web scan and haven't done what you suggested after that because I wanted to wait to hear from you.

Thanks.

Hi.

Oh, yes the problems are still there. We are out of kilter lately. I have to log off now but will check back later. Plus, I will use the computer a bit more to see what has changed. The computer hasn't crashed. But I still get pop-ups, tabs won't open in IE, etc.

Thanks.
