Ok, like any gamers dream - hd visuals - crysis warhead max settings.

I currently have a laptop which can not play games =(
However I have around $1000 to spend on building a computer.

My dad has a dell optiplex 755 and has recently bought a new one. So I will be getting his.
I know it won't be very good for games either, but at least I will have a computer to upgrade.

I have a monitor coming in the post soon - http://www.amazon.co...04263108&sr=8-1
Full HD 1920 x 1080p

For university I am going to study games development and to process all the kits, and to max out games, I need a good computer.
I am very good at modelling and graphics design but I do not know a lot about inside a computer.

I cant find much information on building computers so I have came here.

I have read about graphics cards and to crossfire two hd radeon 5850s is very good and can 'max' games such as crysis and it is also relativly cheap

But to install a graphics card, i need a motherboard which I do not know anything about.

Questions -
So can someone please tell me what would be the best motherboard I can buy for around $100 - $250 and is able to crossfire two 5850s?
8gb ram, can anyone recommand me any?
What CPU I should buy?
and what does it mean by cooling graphics cards?

Thanks in advance, I appreciate it and I am learning about inside a computer, so forgive me, we were all like this at one stage.
I would like the 2 5850s so please dont mention alternative graphics cards and I would like to stick with ATI.

Thank you.

Hi Threeshotsolid
Whilst we put together some suggestions for you take the time to read the following tutorials put together by Troy and Artellos http://www.geekstogo...r-own-computer/ and Digerati respectively http://www.geekstogo...rface-material/

EDIT: There are 4 variations of the Dell Optiplex 755, Mid Tower, Desktop, Small Form Factor and Ultra Small Form Factor, please check http://www.dell.com/...5_techspecs.pdf and advise us of the correct model, this needs to be considered due to the varying size of motherboards, video cards and PSUs.

As I thought but thanks for clarifying :)
Being realistic you are going to need a new case for 2 reasons, 1: The size of your proposed radeon 5850s and 2: You will have to have a PSU big enough to power X2 cards.

Case http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811129042 $59.95
MB http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813130235 $94.99
CPU http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819103871 $99.99
Ram http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231314 $99.99
GFX http://www.newegg.co...2-932-_-Product $279.98
HDD http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822136795 $59.99
CD/DVD Burner http://www.newegg.co...N82E16827135204 $20.99
PSU http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817139012 $119.99
W7 OEM http://www.newegg.co...N82E16832116986 $99.99
Total $970.90

Additional notes:
X2 GFX cards budgeted for, no shipping costs included, unless you have your own retail version of an OS to install, a new one must be purchased, I have chosen the modular PSU to allow for more room in the case and finally I included a new DVD/CD burner as it is only $20.99 and we are still under budget.
I hope that you find this helpful and don`t forget you will need some TIM for the CPU, good luck :)

No worries, its what forums are for.
Your suggested case does look more the part, I was mindful of your budget and the one I suggested is a good quality one at a good price.
Is your present W7 disk the retail or OEM version? If retail it may have both the 32 and 64 bit versions on it.
