Ok, like any gamers dream - hd visuals - crysis warhead max settings.

I currently have a laptop which can not play games =(
However I have around $1000 to spend on building a computer.

My dad has a dell optiplex 755 and has recently bought a new one. So I will be getting his.
I know it won't be very good for games either, but at least I will have a computer to upgrade.

For university I am going to study games development and to process all the kits, and to max out games, I need a good computer.
I am very good at modelling and graphics design but I do not know a lot about inside a computer.


I cant find much information on building computers so I have came here.

I have read about graphics cards and to crossfire two hd radeon 5850s is very good and can 'max' games such as crysis and it is also relativly cheap

But to install a graphics card, i need a motherboard which I do not know anything about.

Questions -
So can someone please tell me what would be the best motherboard I can buy for around $100 - $250 and is able to crossfire two 5850s?
8gb ram, can anyone recommand me any?
What CPU I should buy?
and what does it mean by cooling graphics cards?

I would like the 2 5850s so please dont mention alternative graphics cards and I would like to stick with ATI.

I had mis-spelt my budget twice, i wrote $100 budget i meant $1000 and I have changed it.

Being realistic you are going to need a new case for 2 reasons, 1: The size of your proposed radeon 5850s and 2: You will have to have a PSU big enough to power X2 cards.

Your suggested case does look more the part, I was mindful of your budget and the one I suggested is a good quality one at a good price.
Is your present W7 disk the retail or OEM version? If retail it may have both the 32 and 64 bit versions on it.

I think i will get the case i chose instead =D

i am not sure, my dad has the discs stored away in his office, but i will find out tonight when he is out. I hope so, if not i will have to buy the 64 then.

alright, i dont have all the money for it now, but plan to piece it gradually when I have the money.

I need it for gaming, graphics design and for studing games development at university =D
