I did some googling and its say that the numbers on the ram such as 4-4-4-12 etc is a CAS L number


Information suggests Lower the better I currently have a G33 Express ICH9 Motherboard


The Current Ram installed is DDR 2 2x1 GB

Here is the Ram details from



speccy 2.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)



One is from samsung other from Ramaxel Technology



My Question is I plan to increase it with2 more Gigs I am Deciding between GSkill and Corsair

Is their anything I should know of before Purchase??

My Ram`s frequency as 800Mhz




My Question What are things to Remeber before I decide the Ram I guess same Frequency


Should I add one more Gig or 2


My vista is 32 Bit so Is 4 Gb of Ram useful or will only 64 bit O/S utilise the entire 4 GB??


ALso Between Corsair and Gskill Which is Better I see that Corsair is quite Costly so Which one o people here Recommend?

32 bit OS will only utilize 3.5 gigs and 64 bit will use it all.

I prefer Corsair myself.


Also to make sure what you get Go to HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system.
You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

So,is upgrading to 3 Gb better or 4 GB


Main Reason For upgrade to boost up speed

But if upgrade to 4 Gb won`t help might just stick with 3 Gb and Save money

I see no reason to go to 4 gigs unless you have plans on formatting and installing a 64 bit OS.

Do those number need to be same for optimum performance.Also Is less that number better performance?

To be honest I never have paid attention to the numbers except like what I posted.
I do suggest that the numbers be at least what you have now unless you are replacing all the memory.

OK the memory you linked the corsair is laptop memory.

Hi again 2 Quick Question,


Now Lets say a Pc has 250 watts power Supply



with core 2 duo processor If the PSU is changed to 650-750watts will their be better performance?

I know graphics card require a lot of Power but does increasing power supply have any effect on the RAM,Processor,Harddisk Performance?

250 watt PSU I'm surprised it runs reliable at all.
That is a very low wattage for that kind of specs. I don't even advise anything less then a 500 watt corsair 80 plus psu now.
The effect it would have is a more stable 12 and 3 volt rail in the PSU.
This in turn would keep the components powered correctly.
The system would not just crash, turn off or restart for no reason.

If Increasing PSU increases my overall performance and enables me to get a mid range graphics card i might as well upgrade PSU Instead adding another gig of Ram
