I reformated a friends PC & have lost some drivers It's a Packard Bell Imedia 3084 XP home SP3 I've been to the Packard Bell download site but I can't see anything like this model number. I cannot connect this PC to the intenet to run any checks because 2 of the missing drivers are the PCI Modem & Ethernet Controller.

go here and download Everest Home Edition 1.51...launch it and click on the + beside motherboard...click on chipset...get a screenshot and post it for me...

also the same for network...click on the + then windows network

I managed to get the 3com ethernet controller from the Packard Bell website but I still have 5 missing drivers I can't find any help would be much appreciated.

you can use the scan my pc option or enter the make and model manually

go to windows update...use the custom option...on the left side look for hardware updates...get any it says you need

I've done the above, but am still without sound. When I try to scan using Driver Guide(including when I re-download it) I get "run-time error 5. Invalid procedure call or argument"

am I to assume all the other drivers worked and you are only missing sound now...

I don't know about the other drivers because I haven't been able to scan. Am about to follow your last suggestion
