did you see any hardware updates available at windows update...did you get them and install them...
use the device manager to see if you have any yellow or red ? !
it will save us both a lot of time if you keep me informed on anything you try and the results...both good and bad

you could try getting the driver again...if it fails again
launch everest again...click on the + beside computer...click on summary...get screenshot

Thanks for your help guys I managed to get the drivers from Packard Bell after you told me what I needed sound is now working & everything seems to be running OK, but device manager still shows 3 things missing but I don't think thats a problem. I've also attached a screeshot of Everest, but the one other problem I have is 1 crucial update from Windows will not install despite repeated attempts any idea why?

Windows update OK, ASUS site autodetection doesn't work PC is a Packard Bell?
