Hi all, new to here!

I am looking to gain an understanding of why some devices like DVD players w/USB and various media players can only take low capacity hard drives?

Is this a firm ware issue or something totally different? And is there any fix for this problem?

For example, I have a media dock that will only support a 32gb thumb drive while others will support up to 1tb HDDs and I'm really interested to understand more abou this. I have plugged in larger HDDs (both powered and un powered) and the media dock just won't read them.

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance!
