Alright so I finally got a Graphics card for my PC, first NON-integrated i've used since my parents bought a ATI Rage 128 Pro back before I knew what it was....

ANYWAYS, under windows XP I'm using Catalyst(not afterburner or anything) for the Driver/controller
And under Mandriva 2010.2 I installed the catalyst drivers but for some reason when I try to set it up it tried to use old non-HD series drivers
I can click the HD then it tells me there is a proprietary driver it installs and says it working BUT the display is only the centre of my screen.
Like 4:3 but there are black bars on the top/bottom as well.

Resolution for 1280x720 & 1920x1080 both show up and will display but still wont go full screen.

The TV is a WD60638
Card is a MSI R5450-MD1GD3H/LP (ATI HD5450 with 1GB DDR3)
and works just fine while I'm running under windows.

Wrong resolution?
Open terminal, type "cvt HORZ VERT" where:
HORZ is horizontal resolution, VERT is vertical resolution.
Like this: cvt 1920 1200
You will get something like:
Modeline "1920x1200_60.00" 193.25 1920 2056 2256 2592 1200 1203 1209 1245 -hsync +vsync
Copy the Modeline to the clipboard. Note the name ("1920x1200_60.00" in the example above)
Open a root terminal, open file "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" with a text editor like gedit or leafpad (case sensitive, I hope you know) then paste in:
Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Primary Monitor"
Modeline #post your Modeline obtained from cvt here. Remember to copy the whole line.
Option "PreferredMode" #mode name (obtained from cvt, for example "1920x1200_60.00").
EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Primary Screen"
    SubSection "Display"
Modes "1024x768" "640x480" #mode name here again. Remember the two previous modes are required.
    EndSubSection
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "Default Layout"
    Screen "Primary Screen"
EndSection
Save, then either reboot or Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart X.
