I had to run a system restore - and now no sound - Googled up the issue and found this
http://www.geekstogo...store-please-h/
I dod have an integrated sound card -
I have tried all of the solutions -
Gateway support sight - down loads - nope
Recovery driver disks purchased - no joy

Digging deeper into this issue - dang !
Purchased and ran Numbus recovery disk - this populated the system devices -
When I restart - the hardware wizard tries to installed microsoft UAA audio bus driver
Looks for hdaubus.sys in c:/windows/driver cache
found version 6.0.6001.17036 - 53,760 bytes in c:/windows/system32/drivers
First just pointed the h/W wizard to this file, then moved a copied into c:/windows/driver cache
Same result - MS UAA started to download - says it is using hdaubus.sys - then stops and say it cannot install device
I see M/S UAA with device manager - with yellow mark - click on it - unitastall- reload - try updating - all no joy
Could I be having a compatibiity problem with hdaubus.sys and Microsoft UAA?
one other thing I tried - I down loaded realteks drivers - run the install - the H/W wizard want to install M/S UAA. If I halt this - I get a PCI devise listing with a yellow mark
HELP !
