Does anyone know the correct ping command to check my pc is internally ready for Ipv6?

I have tried, ping -6 fe80::1 which comes back as system failure which I think means the pc is not ready.

Both the wireless and ethernet properties have the Ipv6 boxes checked, but I see in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\
Services\tcpip6\Parameters\Disa bledComponents

is set to 255 which I believe is "disabled"

Any ideas please to setup this Windows7 correctly for an internal ping.
