That sounds like the either motherboard or hd.
Try running hd diagnostics again.
Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.
NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, try the Hitachi DFT CD Image version of the software
Thanks to Broni for the instructions

Which ever one you need get the DOS CD ISO version and then use the program with the instructions to make the ISO cd.

they have a bootable cd .iso image file, would that be the one? i downloaded said .iso file then burned using imgburn which created a .bin file. how do you open a .bin file?

you don't open the bin file. Put the cd in the drive and reboot the system. If the cdrom is the first boot device it should boot straight to the program.

I would say that the HD test good then.
Looks like we may have a OS issue then.

Copies rarely work correctly. Can you not borrow the original disk?
Is it a full version or a upgrade version?
