2 years ago I got a hp pav.512n w/xp.I plugged her in and w/out any prev. exp.
was up and running in 'bout 45 min.sThen the internet wich has taken me all the rest of this time to straighten out the messes I've gotten into<like never closing windows,no safety,just a wide open door into cyberspace.I'm pretty comfortable with the inner working of the systems cont.,the registry and appointing values to objects to work in another way.My questions are thus:Is linux a somewhat failsafe os and pretty much bombproof if config, correctly and where may I find a hands on tutorial that would help me as a complete newbie?Many thanks.

Now it's my understanding that Linux (Just like Mac's) are just as vulnerable to attacks and infections as Windows, it's just not very common since the majority of the world is using Windows. There's not much demand for linux and macintosh viruses. So yes in my opinion Linux is much safer until the rest of the world migrates away from Windows to Linux.
