Some internet pages not loading correctly

For the last few days I've not been able to load some big sites - Facebook, Twitter, Paypal. They either don't load or come up very slowly as text only, that is, no layout, no graphics. I've tried in IE9, Firefox and Google Chrome and on two different laptops -both with Windows 7.

Any clues on what's happening here??
