No that is part of my issue, I just bought this system in Feb/Mar and the system was loaded with Windows XP sp3 but the reinstallation disk from Dell is for Windows 7 professional 64-Bit. Will I be able to do it with that disk?

Is this a Dell and if so is it the same make and model the Win7 disk is from?
What version of XP is installed and do you know someone who has the same version you can borrow to do the Repair Installation?
Is there a sticker on the system with the XP reg key on it?

Yes it is a Dell computer, Windows XP Professional sp3. I will have to check for the sticker when I get home, I do not know anyone who has the same version. I have a heat ticket into Dell to see if I can get the correct CD.

Desktops the sticker is usually located on one of the sides of the system. On a laptop usually on the bottom.
Also being only 3 months old this may be better served to allow them to resolve since it may be a hardware issue which would be covered under their warranty. Better to have them resolve it now before it really goes bad after the warranty has expired. :)
