XP pro just froze and is in power saving mode, Cannot turn on or off without holding power switch. Home built x 6 yrs old,,,Any help appreciated...Hay_Wire

when you can't even boot into safe mode you will have to repair xp...

for the how to repair your operating system guides...
go here...

if you don't have a xp cd you will have to borrow one from a friend or coworker...
it has to be the same flavor of xp you have installed...IE: if you have xp pro...the one you borrow has to be xp pro

I think I am in a pickle. The OS has been updated from xp home to xp pro and I only have the original xp home disk. I will try all other mentioned ideas and go as far as a newbie can this weekend and see what comes up. Thank you for your reply....Hay-Wire

no need to quote what I say...it just adds a little time to find your reply...

download ARCDC.exe from Artellos.com.

• Double click ARCDC.exe
• Follow the dialog until you see 6 options. ..pick The Windows version of the system you need it for
• You will be prompted with a Terms of Use by Microsoft, please accept.
• You will see a few dos screens flash by, this is normal.
• Next you will be able to choose to add extra files if you want...not sure then you don't need any
• The last window will allow you to burn the disk using BurnCDCC

Your ISO is located on your desktop.

if you don't have a burning program that will burn .ISO files go here and get burncdcc ..a small FAST no frills iso
burning program...

NOTE...do not put a blank cd in until burncdcc opens the tray for you
1. Start by clicking on BurnCDCC.exe
2. Browse to the ISO file you want to burn on cd/dvd ....in this case its XPRC
3. Select the ISO file
4. click on Start
