Hello,

Got rid of virus. Got rid of black screen. Got desktop icons back - kind of. It's not like it was before. Things are in folders but the aliases I had are gone. Text pages open on computer different from what they were, shortcuts are gone, I had to go to Programs to make shortcut to put IE on desktop - now all those favorites and such are gone. The only Restore Point I see is dated yesterday, in the middle of the problem. I bought this as a floor model so I have no OS CD's for it.

Can I restore things to how they were before all this problem?

Much thanks,
bamakodaker

Make a 'rescue' kit right now! Trinity Rescue Kit or TRK is a free live Linux distribution that aims specifically at recovery and repair operations on Windows machines.

You can also make a bootable anti-virus disk http://www.techmixer...-download-list/ ... burn at a slow speed so it doesn't get corrupted.
