Hi, my avast warns me about the syspatch[wrm] infection, i run a full avast analisys, still won't remove the worm. Also everytime i use firefox and do a google search, it redirects me to malware sites. I've read several posts about these problems, but i have very little idea about computers and can't understand all those code lines. I have the hijackthis tool, and also panda online and dr web. Dr web identified and cured several worms, still the avast alert pops up and the google redirect still bugs me. Are the syspatch worm and google redirect related?? Should i repair them separately? Should i burn the pc and get a mac? Please help me and tell me what tools to install, what to do and i shall obey, since i don't really know what to do. Thanks very much

Hi lets run a quick analysis

Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Select All Users
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    explorer.exe
    winlogon.exe
    Userinit.exe
    svchost.exe
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /rs
    hklm\software\clients\startmenuinternet|command /64 /rs
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Post both logs

THEN

Download aswMBR.exe ( 511KB ) to your desktop.

Double click the aswMBR.exe to run it

Click the "Scan" button to start scan

On completion of the scan click save log, save it to your desktop and post in your next reply
