Quite often (but not every time) on start up of xp pro I get a message
generic svchost has hit a problem
I hit ok and the Os continues happily.
Some times I get a maybe related problem my network services stop running and
I lose my network (all of 3 Computers).
Nothing I do seems to restore the network and about 2(!) cold starts are required to get everything working again.
Any suggestions as to cause and repair

svchost is a generic driver used by multiple processes...the problem is tracking down which is failing.

wait for the problem to recur, then

start > run

look in apps and system for problems at that time
