Hi,

first of all sorry if this is in the wrong section. Iv'e never built a computer before but do have computer experience, but no experience of building. I want the computer mainly for playing WOW Cataclysm with ultra graphics settings, and then the only other use would be browsing and downloading.

Budget: Min. £300, max. £400 maybe at a push £450

Main uses of intended build: Playing WOW Cataclysm with ultra graphics settings

Parts required: Everything (including keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers)

Previous build information (list details of parts): (Laptop) Sempron 2ghz, 1 gb RAM, Integrated graphics, 120gb hard drive

Monitor resolution: I would want 1080 HD, no less but wouldn't really be bothered about any more, and preferably at least a 21" screen size

Storage requirements: I already have an external hard drive for media, so wouldn't really need much space.

will you be overclocking: No

Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers): No requirements, just basic, want to keep the price as low as possible

Extra information about desired system: I will probably be ordering from Scan because of there finance option, and the only main use will be playing WOW but I want to be able to play on ultra graphics. I don't need anything fancy or expensive, eg. don't need a fancy case, keyboard etc. only basic as I want to keep the price as low as possible. DVD Driver or Re-Writer will not be needed

If someone could help me or suggest a system I would be really grateful

Hi MrGeorge89, :)

Looking at your desired PC specs, " Monitor resolution: playing WOW Cataclysm with ultra graphics settings" it is not possible to build it for 450 Pounds. Total up these 3 items.

One of these video cards.

If you can manage with any other screen, borrowed, second hand, and use the Mobo integrated graphics, to get you going, I can spec a good quality AMD
PC that would be upgradeable for years including taking the yet to be released AMD Bulldozer CPU.

I would use AMD for the processor, you get more bang for your buck that way. Then pick up a nVidia 460 and you should be set.

Hi, sorry for not replying, my emails from this forum were going in to my spam inbox for some reason (and I didn't think anyone replied) and I was just having a look through them and noticed one in there, Iv'e marked them as not spam now

Yes I still do need help please.

I have my own copy of Windows 7 so I wouldn't have to spend money on this. I also have speakers and a keyboard and mouse I could use for now if need be, so these could be taken out of consideration.

I noticed in the 'Today Only' (about a week ago) section on Scan a nice Acer (I think) monitor for £90 which I thought wasn't a bad price, although it has gone now :)

I don't need all the 'top of the range' products as I probably won't be playing any brand new games. I'l only be playing the likes of WOW and LOTRO, although I would like to have the full benefit by playing these in full detail.

Advice would be greatly appreciated
