Hi onejinx,

Welcome to Geeks to Go! My name is SpySentinel and I will be helping you fix your malware problem.
Sorry for the delay, we have been very busy lately, and I apologize for your wait.

This infection family will hide all the files on your computer from being seen. To make your files visible again, please download the following program to your desktop:

Unhide.exe

Once the program has been downloaded, double-click on the Unhide.exe icon on your desktop and allow the program to run. This program will remove the +H, or hidden, attribute from all the files on your hard drives. If there are any files that were purposely hidden by you, you will need to hide them again after this tool is run.

Run OTL.exe
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

Adobe Reader 9.1.2
Java™ 6 Update 24

Your Adobe Acrobat Reader is out of date. Older versions are vulnerable to attack.

Please go to the link below to update.

Posted Image Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version of Java components and upgrade the application. Beware it is NOT supported for use in 9x or ME and probably will not install in those systems

Upgrading Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE)JRE 6 Update 26.
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Select your Platform and check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.".
  • Click on Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation (jre-6u26-windows-i586.exe) and save it to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager..
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.(Vista users, right click on the jre-6u26-windows-i586.exe and select "Run as an Administrator.")

Please post back letting me know if the updates are successful and any other issues you may be having.

And the icons at the center top of screen, if i click on IE icon it doesnt open IE.
A little bit after getting this laptop IE 32 bit quick working. Only 64 bit works. And only if I click start, then the IE icon.
