Ditto, I just saw your post about what to do with HiJackThis posts, and I wanted to add that I ran spybot, ad-aware, and AVG before posting. I have also recently been infected with a virus which is currently in the vault. Everytime I run Ad-aware, it tells me I have a virus in my computer. I also get error messages when I restart my pc saying components are missing. I will have to talk about that more later. Just thought this might help you diagnose my problem. You guys are great!

Hey gunnie,

Thanks for letting me know about your previous work. Let's try and fix the log to see if that'll help. Ok lets go!

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = www.myfunstart.com/index.cfm?pc=bdhp
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

Please go to start->control panel. then click on add/remove programs and remove zongo.

If its no there, then reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

c:\program files\zango<--- folder
C:\Program Files\Common files\updater<----folder

Please delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself) like for example
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Ditto,
One question before I start fixing stuff. I noticed one of the things on the list is UD Agent. If I click to fix that, will it remove it from my computer. That is part of that www.grid.org stuff for cancer research. Can I keep that?

Yes, it would remove it. If it's a program you wish to keep, just leave it alone. <_<

Mosaic1 has created a bat file that should help us, download it from here.
http://computercops....ownload&id=1183

A few setup items first we need to do, make sure you can view all hidden files and folders, use this link for help.
http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

Next, review this article How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Sign Off the Internet and Stay Off Until All Steps Are Finished

Extract the batch file (hiving.bat) and run it. If you have script blocking enabled you will get a warning. Please allow this to run. The script is just producing a message box. Double click on the batch to run it. After a reboot the super hidden nasty file will no longer be loaded and will be visible.

Restart into Safe mode and find this file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\TERMMGR139h.dll

Right click on the file and choose properties.
Use the security tab on .dll and take ownership.
Change the 'everyone special' to
'you> with Admin rights-> FULL control
Then try to delete it, if that fails try to rename
it first to different name+ext.
Example:
ctl.dll>bleh.txt
bleh.txt > badfile.111

Once you have successfully deleted the file restart into Regular Windows mode.

Run CWShredder immediately. Press the 'Fix' button to clean.

Run Ad-aware
Restart.

Report back if you're successful or not.

Can you complete the next part?

Restart into Safe mode and find this file:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\TERMMGR139h.dll

Right click on the file and choose properties.
Use the security tab on .dll and take ownership.
Change the 'everyone special' to
'you> with Admin rights-> FULL control
Then try to delete it, if that fails try to rename
it first to different name+ext.
Example:
ctl.dll>bleh.txt
bleh.txt > badfile.111

Once you have successfully deleted the file restart into Regular Windows mode.

Run CWShredder immediately. Press the 'Fix' button to clean.

Okay, I deleted the C:\WINDOWS\System32\TERMMGR139h.dll file. I didn't have to take ownership. I already had control and simply deleted it. I restarted and ran CWShredder, fixed everything and ran Ad-Aware. At start up, I get these messages:

"Windows cannot op this file":

initial.cfg
main.cfg
second.awp
first.awp

You are attempting to open a file of type "(.dat)
These files are used by the operating system and by various programs. Editing or modifying them could damage your system. If you still want to open the file, click open with, otherwise, click cancel. I have been clicking cancel.

What should I do about all this?

I forgot to also tell you that when I run AVG, it says I still have 3 infected files on my hard drive.

I just noticed from your other post you've installed SP2. I'm suspecting that's why this fix doesn't work. I'm going to have to look into this further and get back to you.

I am also running into email problems and have been trying to try and fix that problem also in another thread, but am having difficulty following the directions.

email problems

I'm sure they are connected in some way, so I thought the info in the other thread might help you assess my problems better. <_<
