I have been working on a series of problems since about noon yesterday and just when I think I have this thing licked it spawns off more boogers in my system.
I am running Win XP on a Compaq Presario and seem to have picked up a variety of trojans, spyware and malware.
I read through the forums here yesterday and followed all the procedures given in this cases, downloaded all the programs suggested and ran them accordingly.
I've managed to clean out most of the culprits with the exception of one that keeps reappearing no matter how many times I add/remove and delete. It is actually disguised to appear to be a helpful spy removal program called SpySheriff.
The program eventually hijacks the desktop and leaves it with a blue screen with a black message window with red text about the system being unsafe please remove all spyware yada yada. I successfully followed instructions here last night and got control of the desktop back temporarily but today at first boot once all programs had loaded it took over yet again.
I am posting a copy of my current hijack this log so that perhaps some kind sould can help me identify what I am missing, I do know that there are some specific registry edits that need to be dome as the program XoftSpy finds when I run it but I cannot afford that program at this time to have them removed (the others programs seem to miss these) they are to do with the Ctfmon and something called northcode inc.
