My friend brought her laptop to me because her desktop icons are all reading as adobe files. When I made the file extensions visible, they are .lnk files now. I tried to fix it by renaming internet explorer as an .exe file, but the .exe file extension is claiming to be an itunes music player file. She has McAfee and, of course, it found nothing wrong. I tried to load malwarebytes from a flash drive (because I cannot get her internet to open), and it corrupted and changed the files on my flash drive!! Please help!! We'd like to save the laptop, but if it must be wiped, is there a way to save her photos and mp3 files?
