Hey,

Before you waste time reading this, I should tell you that if someone elses topic looks like it requires more immediate attention, then go there. I would like help but its not as dire a need as other people. So anyways, here is my story.

I had a bunch of adware/spyware/auroura popups. I also had that DrPmon.dll file and couldn't get rid of it.. I just followed all of the instructions on this page:

http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

Now my computer is running significantly faster, I haven't had any problems just yet. I do however just want to make sure that my computer is totally clean. I just want to get this done while I'm doing it now and get it done the right way. So here are my ewido and HiJackThis logs. Please inform me if there is anything else that I need to do. Thanks for your time.

Welcome a350z4me to Geeks to Go!

If you were to wait till all others are helped, you'd never been seen. :tazz: It's to busy for the helpers.

Remove SpyAssasin! You realy don't want that one.

Open HijackThis
Go to ‘config’
Go to ‘misc tools’
Press the button ‘open uninstall manager’
In the list find:
SpyAssasin
Press ‘delete this entry’.
Close HijackThis for now.

***

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

***

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

***

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

***

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

***

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Did you uninstall SpyAssasin? Read here to find out why I want you to get ride of it.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O3 - Toolbar: AdwareFilter - {1028F737-81E7-452B-A860-E50CAD90A08C} - C:\Program Files\AdwareFilterToolBar\AdwareFilter.dll

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Please grant permission to Spybot for the change.

Please post back with another HijackThis log.

Actually I saw that thread about rouge adware/spyware before you replied to my original post. I uninstalled it then, but I just now went back and checked and found a spyassasin directory under my program files. I deleted that and ran HiJackThis again, and here are the results:

Well my computer was significantly faster after I did everything mentioned in the "You Must Read This before posting a HiJackThis log" thread. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference after you helped me with my HiJackThis log. There wasn't really anything major left however with the exception of maybe those SpyAssasin files.

Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated. :tazz:

Just a bit of malware left when you started, you are right about that.

Let's cleanup.

Download CleanUp!.
If that doesn’t work, use this link.
Don't run the program, we'll do that later.

Go to options
Select ‘custom’
Put a check to:* empty recycle bins
* delete prefetch files
* CleanUp! All users.
Press 'cleanup!'

Once it's done, log off and log on again. This will remove files that were in use during the scan.

***

If cleanup removed a lot, I recommend defragmentation of the disk.

***

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)

1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  • Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:

Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware, Malware, and Hijackers

  • Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Glad I was able to help.
