My computer is working okay, to a point. It boots, shows icons, but I cannot use Start to get on the Internet. I have to use an icon to get on the web. Nor can I access the registry to a day ago to get around the problem. Comp working, but it's not supposed to be this way I think.

From System Tools it states, "Internet Explorer (No add-ons)
I noticed on the blue ball which has the white arroow in the right hand corner has fewer items there now.

It happened when I was on porn sites and clicked on the ads on the side.

I have Windows XP, one meg of Ram I think, can't get the sys info. Sys is near 10 years old I would guess, got the PC second hand. Been working great for a few years.

I use the free AVG anitviral software.

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go! :)

What happens when you try to use the Start Menu to get onto the internet? Does it give you any kind of error message?

I've seen a few infections take out this link- not a bad idea to get yourself cleaned up. I suggest posting a new thread on the Virus, Spyware and Trojan Removal Forums. Also, be sure to check this topic before you make a new post. It will help our volunteers assist you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I tried to download OTL, but it wouldn't run. That box I mentioned came up which seemed to prevent the download.
