My son picked up XP Antispyware 2012 while protected by MSE. I managed to get rid of it by downloading MBAM, and MS was helpful in getting updating restored. I asked them if MSE shouldn't have protected me;they said it should have but they have seen this happen to computers protected by all the other antiviruses also.

So, if it should have protected me, why didn't it? If it failed would other antiviruses also?

Hello Tollerowner:

There isn't any security product yet that's 100% perfect. However, with layered defense and safe surfing habits a lot could be averted. I won't go into details as you could read and get a lot more information at Virus, Spyware, Malware Removal please read the prevention/closing speech by experts at the end of each log
