Can somebody please help me figure out what to do. I am not very good with computers at all. I recently purchased an ipod mini and installed the itunes software. I added music to my library with minor troubles. When I decided I wanted to transfer my music to my ipod an error message appeared:

"Another user on this computer is using ipod software, so itunes is unable to communicate with this ipod. pleas ask the other user to log out."

I have windows XP. I'm positive it has to do with having multiple users but i'm not sure how to fix it. everyone else is logged off. Also, I cannot delete the itunes software because it says something about being wright protected. Please help!

Yeah my girlfriend just had the same problem. You fix it by going doing the following:

1) go to "ctrl + alt + delete" applications. If you have XP, it should go right to the task manager, but if you don't click the "Task Manager"

2) Find itunes in the applications (if it isn't there yet, open it up)

3) Right click the Itunes application and click "go to process"

4) Close the process it goes to.

5) Also, find the "ipodservice.exe" process in that list (easily found by clicking "image name" to alphebetize the processes)

6) Close that process.

It should now work. I gave her those instrutions over aim and it worked. So try it out. Good luck.
