i was using this old notebook the other day and the screen just went blank. i was wodering if their is a test i can do to see if it is the hard drive or just the screen?
also when i try and turn the computer on the fan will come one for minute then turn off

Try hooking a external monitor to the laptop and see if it works then. If so then the screen is bad.
