Since a power outage, xp now boots to the initial "black" screen; hangs at the black screen for 7 minutes, then continues the boot process showing the drives, etc. all the way to XP windows screen and everything works fine thereafter.
I have re-installed the XP cd REPAIR console and Service packs 1-3. All the programs work great. Its just the annoying 7 minute HANG on the initial boot that is a problem. Prior to the outage, it booted straight through and took about 3 minutes from start to finish.

Hi -
All I can add is to try a dskchk /r to make sure the boot disk is OK.
You can also check the BIOS settings to make sure your hard drive is et as the First boot item.

Thank You -
